The capital of Chile is ready to welcome tourists! A warm people who love Brazilians and other nationalities. Take a look at my suggestions for those visiting the city for the first time.

You should book the hotel and transport in advance, because when you arrive at the airport there is a real competition among cab drivers. In case you have not done so, try negotiating the fare before getting in the cab.

Choose daily flights in or out, the Andes are the traditional symbol of the city – the most beautiful part of the tour, for sure!

Exchange some of the money at the airport and the rest in the downtown area (the best rates).

The hotels are excellent, with a regular cab service and subway system that makes Brazilians green with envy!

The food is similar to what we eat in Argentina; we miss the variety of fruits and vegetables. A stop for lunch at MERCADO CENTRAL is good to eat seafood, but dinner, with a typical dance performance must be on the agenda. Get something to eat or go for a walk in the district of Vitacura and Paseo Bella Vista, both worth the visit.

The historic area, the buildings, squares and museums are the most beautiful thing in the city. The modern architecture is surprising, the tunnels and underground parking lots are an example of modernity and neatness. Some monuments are closed for reconstruction due to earthquakes.

Visiting Valle Nevado – the ski resort (even out of season) is a must, as well as going to Vina del Mar and Valparaíso.

The city tours can be hired at the hotel reception; they have all tourist material for research.

At the travel agencies there are three types of city tours: a guided walk leaving Mercado Central and heading the Historical Centre; a guided bus ride with quick stops at the main tourist points (half day) and a special bus, where you pay the ticket and can get on and off wherever you like till the end of the day.

Well, this is it, get your camera ready and have fun!
