For those who visit Sydney, a whole Day dedicated to the TARONGA ZOO is a must. It is a huge theme park, with a privileged view to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Besides being close to native Australian animals, you can walk in the areas for foreign animals. It is a pleasant, interesting and fun place. Some animals, like the chimpanzee babies, make us laugh or get emotional.

In some areas the animals are loose; in others, you can go into their environment and take a close-up. There are performances with birds and sea animals, and explanatory panels with curiosities about the wild life. I discovered the tree kangaroo (looks like a teddy bear), the broad-shelled turtle and also that there are around 50 species of marsupial mammals. Not all of them are kangaroos, there the wallabies too.

Founded in 1916, it has been growing and investing on research, conservation and education. After all this time, the zoo managed to create environments faithful to the natural habitat of animals. Thus, many of them are able to reproduce in captivity, several cubs from different species.

How to get there: the ferry departures from wharf 2 on Circular Quay and takes 12 minutes.
Check feeding hours and activities, to be sure you will see your favorite animal.
On your way out, enjoy the store to buy well made plush toys. There is a large variety and the price is the same as in any other store – at least the ones with the same quality.
