Sunday morning was an adventure at SOUKS (Central Market) and at PLACE DJEMAA EL-FNA, like in the adventure movies set in Morocco, narrow streets where people, horses, motorbikes, bikes and horse carts go by. You can buy whatever you want, from human teeth to chameleons. I felt like in a movie, all I needed was to be kidnapped and rescued by an American hero.

Since I was with Europeans and everything was extremely pricey, I used to say I was Brazilian and bargained. They smiled and talked about soccer, but I only got good prices when away from my friends. That is, I did not buy much because I was afraid of walking alone there. The sellers were annoying and pushy, but they do not bargain like the Peruvians, they were even rude sometimes. This is due to their culture, as I am a woman, I am not worthy of respect. In the capital it was a little better. In some places I asked for the price and I was either ignored or asked where my husband was. The good thing was that I had 15 men traveling with me; they took turns being my husband.

In the square there were a lot of snake enchanters. I was about to take a picture when they put one around my neck. Aahh!!

Tourist dinner

We had two tours. A typical dinner with music, dance performances and a horse show in a huge restaurant, which I do not know the name. The lamb with mint was divine, and I brought home with me the habit of eating spices with bread. The other tour was not in the package. On the day we arrived we were so excited and not wanting to sleep early, some hit the desert streets and I tagged along, we ended up in a club PACHÁ, the same you can find in Ibiza and other cities. This is its hometown. It was nice, but completely out of context. There was only tourist and prostitutes, after all, Moroccan women do not go to a place like this.

After this trip, I realized it is not every Muslim country I am ready to go to. And only with men by my side.
