Poço Azul is a must for those visiting Chapada Diamantina. A crystal water-filled cave where it is possible to see the rocky bottom, even at 16m deep.
Trekking in Vale do Pati may seem lengthy, but all the effort is rewarded with the view and people we find on the way. The hospitality, besides the waterfalls and natural pools connected by trails opened by miners, is part of the rewards.
The Poço Azul (Blue Well) at Chapada Diamantina is one of those places that appear to be from another planet. The water is so transparent that people seem to float. I had lucky to get there exactly in the moment which a beam of the sunlight illuminated the well, leaving him even bluer.
When I did the Pati Valley trail, at Chapada Diamantina, we stayed in native houses for some nights. One of these places was from Dona Raquel, a house made of mud and with sand floor, but we were received with such dedication that made us feel like home.
